Nimbuzz has announced a new version of its Chat and VoIP application for BlackBerry smartphones. The new application is different from its predecessor as it runs as a native application although functions the same way by providing IM services and Social networks. The application runs in the background and whenever a contact pings the user, he is alerted by a notification on the homescreen. It also features an auto reconnect option, which looks for 3G, 2G or Wi-Fi availability whenever you lose connection. The new version also comes with clickable URLs that open the browser when you click an URL from within a chat window. The brand new version of the app is designed for Blackberry O.S. 4.6 and higher. Users might want to try this one on their phones with OS 4.6 and higher, like the Storm, Bold 9000, Tour 9630, Pearl Flip, Curve 8900, Storm 2 and Bold 9700.

To setup voip sip for use on your handphone, you can use Numbuzz with SIP provider SIPGATE.

1. Firstly, install Nimbuzz into your handphone. Download and install Nimbuzz to you phone from http://m.nimbuzz.com and register.

2. Register with a SIP Provider Sipgate as on this date of this writing, you don’t have to top-up with a minimum amount every month to keep your account active. You can however select another SIP provider you wish.

3. Setup the SIP in Nimbuzz. Open Nimbuzz and login. Then open ‘Options/Settings/SIP providers’ and select from the providers listed or select ‘Other’.

If you are using Sipgate, you just need your username, password and proxy server settings and select SAVE. If successful Nimbuzz will inform you and your SIP Provider status should change to ACTIVE.

Now goto ‘Options/Settings/VoIP provider settings’ and select SIP as your VoIP Provider. When you go to Calls in Nimbuzz you will see the SIP image and if you select a number to call it will use SIP for the calls.

Thats it. Hopefully this helps.

Nimbuzz has selected voxbone as a provider for its local access numbers. Nimbuzz is a mobile messenger application which allows you to get access to the most popular services such as GTalk, MSN Messenger, AIM, Facebook and Twitter in addition to letting you perform VOIP calls with services like Gizmo and Vyke just to name a few. This collaboration means that Nimbuzz users will be able to use VOIP services as usual even without WiFi or 3G coverage. This is done by first dialing a local access number which routes the call through Internet. Apparently Nimbuzz users are still able to take advantage of Nimbuzz’ free services, however local charges for connecting the call may still apply.
