Skype says that the company plans to enable it to work over 3G on the iPad. Until recently, developers of applications like Fring could not offer this feature to their customers. However, Apple has finally unlocked VoIP over 3G in the iPhone SDK, something Skype plans to take advantage of as well. VoIP apps like Fring already have Skype’s service working over 3G.
Apple introduced the iPad recently which excited Skype hence they are reviewing the device and its specs. The SDK (Software Development Kit) which Apple provides to developers like Skype has been upgraded for the iPad. The new version, 3.2, removes the restrictions on calling over 3G. Skype fans will want to keep an eye out for the updated iPhone app, as well as the iPad version of the software later on this year.
