Bababoo – new mobile voip app

Bababoo mobile voipA new iPhone mobile voip app has hit town. It is called Bababoo. This voip app is similar to Viber. Bababoo aims to simplify making calls while saving on costs – arent they all. Apart for easy to call, Bababoo has some other automatic call routing capabilities and offers group calling therefore, their users can do conferencing at a touch of a button – for free. Unfortunately, they are still short on voicemail and SMSes.

Similar to most voip app, Bababoo user-to-user calls are free. Bababoo will handle the technical matters of connecting to WiFi or 3G (data). If users intend to make calls to non-Bababoo users, the calls are charged about 16 cents/minute. If Bababoo cannot connect you through WiFi or 3G (data) then Bababoo transfers the call to your carrier who will charge $1.69/minute.

Before you do use Bababoo, do refer to their listing rates. Unlike most voip app, users can purchase Bababoo credits from the iPhone app itself. Unfortunately, Bababoo for android or blackberry is unavailable, yet. Sound similar to Viber. I really do not know why it is taking so long.

Viber – review of viber app for iphone

Viber is the latest iPhone voip app touting Skype-like free voice calls, which uses people’s phone numbers as their ID, digging into their address books.

Basically users can make international free calls to other Viber voip app users using 3G or Wi-Fi.

Users can browse through their contacts to see which of your iPhone contacts is already on Viber.

Go ahead and call. It’s free* and it works great!

VIBER APP REVIEW

I have tried calling my wife using the Viber app. Loading took some time. Otherwise using the Viber app is simple.

Straight away in your contacts, you will see who has viber installed on their phone. Viber also have a component to list all your contacts with viber app.

Using it is simple as any. I tried calling my wife using viber. However, as it takes time to convert from packets, the voice will come much later. Hence you have to wait for about couple of seconds to hear the person from the other end.

I suppose if you are overseas and in a wifi area, such delay is welcome.

Toktumi, a San Francisco-based VoIP startup, has their version 2.0 of their company’s mobile VoIP app Line2 approved by apple. The app allows you to call and receive phone calls over both 3G and WiFi networks. It cost 99cents. It allows you to receive calls straight to your mobile phone over a cellular network even if you don’t have 3G or Wi-Fi coverage. It comes with its own features such as call waiting, conference calling, call transfer and even voice mails — in other words, the service is like a virtual second line on your phone. The service costs $14.95 a month for unlimited calls in the U.S. and Canada. This is a blow to Google who did not get approved by Apple for a similar product – Google Voice.
